Upload STL Files and Share 3D Models via Link
Send a model to a print service, share a design with a client, or hand a fixed mesh back to its owner — STL files travel by link.
Upload STL now3D printing workflows are file-handoff workflows: designer to customer, customer to print farm, community member to community member. STLs range from 1MB trinkets to 500MB+ high-poly scans, putting the interesting ones past email caps. And unlike model-sharing platforms, a direct link doesn't wrap your file in a marketplace — no forced login for the print shop, no license ambiguity added by a platform's terms.
How to upload a STL file
- 1
Export the STL from your CAD tool
Fusion 360, Blender, FreeCAD, OnShape — binary STL is smaller than ASCII and prints identically.
- 2
Upload at foldr.space
High-resolution scans run hundreds of MB — under the 2GB Pro cap. Multi-part models go in one Bulk Foldr.
- 3
Send the link to the printer or client
They slice the exact geometry you exported. Vertices don't move in transit.
Drag-drop UI you might recognize
If you found this page by searching one of these phrases — yes, Foldr.Space does exactly that for STL files:
- “Drop files here to upload”
- “Drop your file here”
Frequently asked questions
Why not just use Thingiverse or Printables?
Those are publishing platforms — great for public models, wrong for client work, commissioned designs, or anything you don't want public with a marketplace license attached. A private link shares the file without publishing it.
STL, 3MF, or STEP?
All three upload fine. STL is universal for printing; 3MF carries color/material metadata; STEP is the editable CAD truth. Send what the recipient's workflow needs — or all three in a Bulk Foldr.
Will the mesh be modified?
No — byte-identical hosting. What you exported is what gets sliced.
Can a print service fetch it directly?
Yes, the URL is a normal direct download — most services accept a link in their order form.
